WELCOME

The department of Physical Chemistry was created in 1956, and since 1969 it is locate on the fourth floor in the building of the Faculty of Chemistry from the University of Barcelona (UB). Currently, it is formed by more of 50 members, including professors, researchers, scholars, postgraduate students, technicians, administrative and service staff.

The department is formed by fourteen groups of research, which deal with problems that have a growing interest and are current in the Chemistry field. An important characteristic is scientist interests diversity of their researchers, the wide range of research lines show different orientations from the most general views to the most applied, both in theoretical and experimental aspects. To refer to teaching, the department of Physical Chemistry give subjects not only about Chemistry education by about Chemistry Engineering, Biochemistry, Geology Engineering and Environmental Sciences. Also it is responsible of postgraduate research and of PhD programmes.
